“Extremely difficult, when you see a guy that means so much to our team and puts the work in go down like that,” Pelicans coach Willie Green said after the game.
Murray was the team’s top offseason acquisition, acquiring him in a trade with the Hawks last July. The trio of Murray, Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram was intended to turn the Pelicans into a contender in the Western Conference. The three did not play in a game together once this season.
This is the second major injury of the season for Murray, who broke his hand in the season opener. He is averaging 17.9 points per game and leads the Pelicans in assists and steals.
Only the Jazz and Wizards have a worse record than New Orleans this seasons.
