Report: Saints HC target Joe Brady staying in Buffalo

By Ross Jackson
Now, this is something that will reflect negatively on the New Orleans Saints.
Just when their head coach search seemed to be falling into place—with the Saints as the last team with an opening and several top options still available—one of the best remaining candidates has reportedly removed themselves from consideration.
Per multiple reports, Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady has withdrawn from consideration for the Saints’ open head coach role and is choosing instead to remain with the Buffalo Bills.
This is the first major showing of antipathy for the position in New Orleans, which has long been considered the least appealing job available.
With Brady now off the board, the Saints’ interview list takes a big hit, having lost one of the cycle’s best offensive minds. There are still solid options available, but New Orleans is dangerously teetering on short-term hire status.
Of the remaining candidates, only three have done in-person interviews. That list includes interim head coach and special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi, Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver, and New York Giants offensive coordinator and assistant head coach Mike Kafka.
The team had hoped to speak with Brady after the AFC Championship game was played on Sunday. They also planned to interview Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, former Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy, and—potentially—Kliff Kingsbury, offensive coordinator of the Washington Commanders. But now, speculation is mounting as to whether or not the remaining group may also step away from the opportunity.
This is a shot to the heart for the Saints and now they have to hope that Brady will be the only one to walk away.
