Receiver help is on the way for the New Orleans Saints.

Per NewOrleans.Football’s Nick Underhill, the Saints are signing former Cleveland Browns and Detroit Lions wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones.

Peoples-Jones participated in the Saints’ rookie minicamp last weekend. After the day open to the media, head coach Kellen Moore praised the wideout’s performance.

“Donovan was a really attractive guy during the draft process,” Moore said. “Just the production, the person, feel like we got a guy who’s just got a great feel for the game. So, excited to team up with him. Felt like he did an awesome job out there. Again, as you come out there, you just want to see these guys moving around. He looks great.”

This signing doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Peoples-Jones looked fluid and impressive throughout Saturday’s open period. His 6-foot-2 and 204-pound frame made him a desirable addition to the roster as another bigger-bodied wideout. He could be an excellent option as a slot receiver in New Orleans with an imposing play style and blocking prowess.

Per NOLA.com’s Matthew Paras, the deal is a one-year agreement.

Through his four-year career, the Michigan alum reeled in 122 receptions for 1,895 receiving yards and eight touchdown catches.

New Orleans may be able to keep this signing without making a corresponding move thanks to quarterback Derek Carr’s retirement. But with that not processing until after June 1, there may still need to be a spot created in order to get Peoples-Jones under the 90-man roster limit.
