Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian has made it known to the football world that his future is in Austin, not the NFL. Sarkisian’s name was attached to some rumors around NFL head coaching vacancies this offseason. However, per Action Network’s Brett McMurphy, Sarkisian will stay at Texas and will receive a two year extension for doing so.

Sarkisian signed an extension with Texas last January following the team’s trip to the College Football Playoff. The 11 win season in 2023 was rewarded with a seven year contract that would run through the 2030 season. That contract also ensured he would make over $10 million per year as the Longhorns head coach.
There are no details about the financial aspects of the newest reported extension. However, per McMurphy’s report it would be for two years, which should take the partnership through the 2032 season.
