REPORT: Texas QB Quinn Ewers played through torn oblique

By Chris Marler
Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers is no stranger to injury during his time in Austin. Ewers missed at least two games every season, including eight games overall over his three years as the starting quarterback.
The latest news about the former Longhorn was released Wednesday ahead of the NFL Combine: Ewers played 12 games last season with a torn oblique.
Quinn Ewers broke his collarbone and his shoulder, tore his oblique, got blasted non-stop on social media, won a Big 12 title, reached back-to-back CFPs and cemented himself as the No. 3 QB in Texas history. The Combine should be easy.

That’s right. The injury occurred in Week 2 when Texas played Michigan. He played the following week, before reaggravating it and leaving the game against UTSA. He would then miss the next three games.
Despite missing nearly 20% of his junior season, Ewers still finished the 2024 campaign with 3,472 yards and 31 touchdowns. He also led Texas to the semifinals of the College Football Playoff for the second consecutive year. Ewers is expected to be a full participant at the 2025 NFL Combine this week including all the on-field drills.
