Sugar Bowl CEO Jeff Hundley confirmed the decision at a news conference Wednesday afternoon.
“We have been in consultation with ESPN, the College Football Playoffs, the Southeastern Conference, the University of Georgia, with Notre Dame. All parties agreed it’s in the best interest of everybody and public safety that we postpone the game for 24 hours,” Hundley said.
No. 2 Georgia will now meet No. 7 Notre Dame at 3:00 p.m. Thursday in the Superdome.
