Roster Moves: Saints send Lemieux to IR, add Hergel

KANSAS CITY — The New Orleans Saints have announced their pregame roster moves for their Monday Night Football tilt with the Kansas City Chiefs.

New Orleans has sent offensive lineman Shane Lemieux to Injured Reserve (IR). The lineman started one game for the Saints last week against the Atlanta Falcons. He was the team’s starting center. He will miss at least the next four games. With left guard Lucas Patrick questionable Monday night, there is a strong chance that newly signed Connor McGovern will start at center.

The team also announced that lineman Kyle Hergel, an undrafted free agent rookie that stirred up some excitement throughout training camp, will be added to the active roster. This move corresponds with the Saints sending Lemieux to IR.

Two players will be elevated for the game from the practice squad as well. Safety Jonathan Abram and OB Isaiah Stalbird will be the team’s pair of game day elevations.

Both will be important players with special teams contributions. Stalbird also provides depth for a thinning room which has already ruled out Pete Werner and Willie Gay Jr. for the game.

Lastly, the team also downgraded running back Kendre Miller to out. No surprise here. It was only his first week back from IR after also missing all of training camp. It never seemed realistic that Miller would rebound from all of that missed time in just one week. Fellow backs Alvin Kamara, Jamaal Williams and Jordan Mims are still available.
