Report: Steelers have interest in Saints WR Chris Olave

By Ross Jackson
The offseason rumor mill never slows down. After the surprise retirement of New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr, one would think that things would calm down around the team for a moment.
Nevertheless, just a week later, rumors are now swirling about the future of one of the team’s young starters, wide receiver Chris Olave.
Adam Crowley, radio host on 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh, received a message that appears to indicate the Pittsburgh Steelers are at least interested and possibly checking in on the receiver.
To be clear. I had someone who would be in the know text me “Chris Olave.” https://t.co/QQx3vafxVp

During Saints head coach Kellen Moore’s media availability at the annual meetings, the coach made it clear that Olave was set to be a contributor in 2025, and make a “huge impact” in the process.
“Chris is a phenomenal player,” he told reporters. “He has had a huge impact on this team. He’s going to have a huge impact (again).”
If that is the case, it would take a pretty penny to pry Olave away from New Orleans. But the team is facing a rebuild, no matter how unlikely it is to acknowledge the fact. And with that, sometimes building blocks get exchanged for capital. So, while it would be surprising to see the Saints actually trade their young wideout away, it’s not surprising that another team would at least check in and show interest.
Olave began his career with back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving seasons but had his year cut short in 2024 after taking a scary hit against the Carolina Panthers in their week nine matchup. Olave was carted off the field and suffered his second concussion of the season. He did not return to the field for the remainder of the year.
After this offseason of recovery, the 2022 first-round pick is expected to be a major part of the Saints’ future. The team did pick up his fifth-year option this offseason. But that won’t stop teams from at least trying to pry the talented pass-catcher away.
