The roster of an NFL team is never set, and even going in to Week 15, the New Orleans Saints continue to tinker with theirs.

The Saints have signed defensive back Travion Flullen. The Middle Tennessee State safety finished his collegiate career in 2023 with eight interceptions over his five years playing at that level.

He would then go on to be drafted in the UFL by the Houston Roughnecks, who will retain his rights. But before joining the spring league, the safety will get a chance to work with the Saints on their practice squad, a great opportunity to further his development.

New Orleans is well staffed in its safety room, showing that the interest in Flullen is more about his talent than a necessity based on injury. That is, of course, unless there’s an injury that hasn’t been made public just yet.

Either way, the newest addition to the Saints practice squad follows a lineage of Middle Tennessee safeties to find their way to the league. Philadelphia Eagles safety Reed Blankenship and Chicago Bears safety Kevin Byard are both also Middle Tennessee grads.
