Saints holding in-person interviews with Weaver, Kafka

Two finalists are being made apparent in the New Orleans Saints head coach search.

Monday morning, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that the Saints will be conducting in-person interviews with two head coach candidates this week.

New York Giants offensive coordinator and assistant head coach Mike Kafka will interview on Tuesday, while Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver will interview on Wednesday

Both are minority candidates and have drawn serious consideration in previous head coaching searches. Kafka has been a finalist for multiple teams in recent searches, while Weaver drew a lot of praise while being considered for the Atlanta Falcons and Washington Commanders jobs last year.

New Orleans is likely to add more names to their in-person interview list as they become available. Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn has been made available much earlier than anticipated, after Detroit’s divisional round exit. He is likely to visit with New Orleans in-person, as well. Glenn, Weaver, and Kafka were the team’s first virtual interviews.

New Orleans has also expressed interest in offensive coordinators Joe Brady (Buffalo Bills), Kellen Moore (Philadelphia Eagles), and Kliff Kingsbury (Washington Commanders). All of which are currently set to coach in the conference championship round next weekend, making them unavailable for in-person interviews at this time.
