Saints odds-on favorites to draft Shedeur Sanders

The hottest topic around this year’s NFL Draft has become Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders. From being a top-of-the-draft candidate to possibly falling later in the first round, opinions vary widely on where the quarterback will ultimately land.
However, Vegas now has a favorite. Per FanDuel Sportsbook, the New Orleans Saints are the odds-on favorites to land Sanders in this month’s NFL Draft.
FanDuel’s odds for the team to draft Sanders
- New Orleans Saints +270
- New York Giants +370
- Pittsburgh Steelers +600
- Cleveland Browns +700
- New York Jets +700

The Saints hold the No. 9 overall pick, meaning that Sanders would have to slip past the Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, Las Vegas Raiders, and New York Jets, all of whom have no long-term answer at quarterback. If Sanders slips past the Giants at No. 3, the Saints would either need to trade up themselves or risk another team jumping ahead to snag the quarterback.
The sportsbook not only predicts that Sanders will end up with the Saints, but from another angle has quarterback primed as the position of the first drafted player by New Orleans.
FanDuel’s odds for first position drafted by the Saints
- Quarterback +270
- Cornerback +500
- Defensive Lineman/Edge +500
- Offensive Lineman +500
- Linebacker +600
The late swell around the Sanders fall could be indicative of media and oddsmakers catching up with NFL teams, or simply the result of prospect fatigue around the industry. But with so many signs pointing to not only a fall, but a fall to New Orleans for Sanders, it’s worth wondering if the smoke is indicative of a true fire that awaits on draft night.
