NEW ORLEANS – More 2025 salary cap relief is on the way for the New Orleans Saints who have reworked a pair of new contracts. Reports that the team restructured a trio of players saving the team up to $13.7 million in the process. The Saints will add more to their 2025 ledger.

Per Katherine Terrell of ESPN, the Saints reworked the deals of linebackers Pete Werner and Demario Davis. The details have not been released, but it is safe to assume that at least one, if not both, are restructured.

If the Saints fully restructure Werner’s contract, as we projected after addressing quarterback Derek Carr’s deal, they will save $2.464 million.

A fully restructured contract for Davis would net the Saints $5.5 million.

Together, those moves would open another nearly $8 million in salary flexibility. Adding in the previous moves reported Tuesday morning, the Saints would have more than $20 million in available funds. The extension of defensive end Chase Young could also open up additional salary as well.

However, a reworked contract doesn’t always mean a restructure. Sometimes, the team and player actively negotiate pay adjustments instead of simply reallocating previously agreed-upon funds.

As free agency unfolds, the Saints and their linebacker tandem will soon reveal the terms of their agreement. One way or another, New Orleans has created more spending flexibility this offseason.
