It hasn’t taken much time for New Orleans Saints rookie quarterback Tyler Shough to hit the ground running. After issuing a strong statement to his new fanbase via social media, he went on to also have a meal at one of New Orleans’ top dining establishments. Both efforts went far from unseen by the team’s fans.
However, he didn’t stop there. Days later, photos were shared of Shough and several others getting some work in Tulane University’s Yulman Stadium.

In a series of pictures, Shough is shown throwing with Saints pass-catchers, including wide receiver Bub Means and tight ends Foster Moreau and Juwan Johnson. Shough and Johnson were teammates together at Oregon in 2019.
Also in attendance was former Tulane receiver Dontae Fleming, who signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Minnesota Vikings following the NFL Draft.
Saints rookie minicamp begins late this week, but Shough is wasting no time getting to work in New Orleans. Means, Moreau, and Johnson are each ineligible to participate in those practices. So this is a pragmatic move by Shough, who will indeed want to develop chemistry with each heading into training camp and eventually the season.
Aside from reuniting with a former teammate and developing a connection with some of his pass-catchers, another positive thing comes from Moreau’s participation.
The tight end had a stellar season in 2024, but it came to an unfortunate end in Week 17 with a severe knee injury. Moreau has been included in the Saints’ offseason workout videos and was seen with a brace during the Shough session. It seems that the tight end’s recovery is headed in the right direction. Seeing him, a respected voice in the locker room and on the roster, working with the rookie passer this early bodes well for the reception of Shough upon the team’s arrival ahead of 2025’s training camp.
