Saints Set Initial 53 Man Roster

Now that the 53-man roster cuts are done around the NFL, teams will survey the league to see what talent is available. After waivers clear on Wednesday, teams will also start constructing their practice squads.The New Orleans Saints are typically very active for the first couple of weeks of the season, adding players and making tweaks to the roster.

While it will certainly look different in the coming days and weeks, here is the Saints’ current 53-man roster by position.

Note: It was a big surprise to see Tipton land on the roster despite not being able to participate in the preseason games. That goes to show how much the Saints really like what he showed early on in camp. However, depending upon how the roster shakes out with potential waiver adds, his name could be one they try to sneak to the practice squad at a later time if needed.

• 4 undrafted rookies made the roster (Tipton, Holker, Payton and Mayball)
• Only one player from the 2024 draft class did not make the roster: seventh-round offensive tackle Josiah Ezirim. He makes sense to come back to the team’s practice squad.
• The following players were placed on injured reserve, ending their seasons
  • Defensive end Camron Peterson
  • Tight end Kevin Rader
  • Cornerback Rejzohn Wright
• Defensive lineman Tanoh Kpassagnon and linebacker Nephi Sewell were both placed on the Reserve/Physically Unable To Perform list.
