New Orleans Saints safety Tyrann Mathieu joined sports broadcaster Brooke Kirchhofer Friday in an exclusive one-on-one interview to discuss a variety of topics, including the Saints’ ongoing coaching search, the departure of ex-coach Dennis Allen, and more.

Among those conversations, Kirchhofer asked Mathieu just how much longer he believes he has left. The three-time All-Pro safety said he has more time ahead of him, playing at a high level

“At a level that I accept,” Mathieu said. “I would probably say maybe two years left.”

With one year left in his contract, Mathieu also made it clear that he would like to finish his career in his hometown of New Orleans. The safety said during his introductory press conference when he signed with the Saints in 2022 that finishing his playing years in New Orleans was a goal. Three years later, he reiterated that point.

“The goal is to help this team win,” Mathieu told Kirchhofer. “I would love to do it at home. I would love to do it for this city, this community, and really all of the people that believe in me and believe in the Saints too.”
