Hear me out, Omaha is lovely and all, but should they move the College World Series to Hoover? That’s basically where it’s decided anyway. I’m sure there’s a Jack’s or Dreamland Barbecue nearby that could figure out a Jello Shot recipe in the next few months.
I’m half kidding, but this year’s college baseball season and rankings are, once again, more top heavy with SEC teams than Dolly Parton on a three day fast. With that being said, here are this week’s SEC baseball power rankings.
-
Tennessee
They lead the nation in ERA at 2.54, are hitting .317, and are second in slugging percentage at .615. They are a wagon right now.
-
Arkansas
The Hogs swept Vanderbilt on the road for the first time since 2005. Besides Morgan Wallen and my liver, few things have struggled more in Nashville than the Hogs over the last two decades.
-
Georgia
Georgia’s pitching staff has struggled with walks and run prevention, but their offense is explosive. They lead the nation with 77 home runs and have scored 10+ runs in 14 of their last 24 games, including five of their first nine SEC matchups.
-
Texas
Texas is third in the country in ERA at 3.22. The LSU series win was impressive, but it’s hard to tell how real they are, as their other two SEC opponents have a combined 1-17 record in conference play.
-
LSU
LSU appears to have the highest upside of any team in the conference. The lineup is absurd. They lead the SEC in batting average at .338, and without sounding too elementary, they just hit the ball so damn hard.
Best of the rest
- Alabama
- Ole Miss
- Oklahoma
- Vanderbilt
- Auburn
- Kentucky
- Florida
- Mississippi State
- South Carolina
- Texas A&M
- Missouri
