SEC Week 11 Numbers to Know

By Chris Marler
It has been a wild week on and off the field. An election, playoff implications, live tigers. Oh my. It was the semi-annual tradition of all of us pretending to know how many electoral college votes Vermont gets. Or in my case, pretending to even know where it is on a map. I feel like I’ve read, said, seen, or heard more numbers than Rain Man at a DMV waiting line.
Regardless, all that’s over, and we can go back to life without political ads and start focusing on the numbers and stats that actually matter. Because if you thought the election results were shocking, wait until I tell you about what happened in Oxford, Mississippi and Baton Rouge, Louisiana Saturday.
Here are the post-Week 11 SEC Numbers to Know.
8-0: Kalen Deboer’s record as a head coach coming off a bye week.
+21.7: Deboer’s teams have an average margin of victory of 21.7 ppg in those eight games off a bye week
9: The last nine Alabama head coaches have all won their first game at LSU.
0: Sacks allowed by Alabama against LSU. LSU came into Saturday with 28 sacks on the season, ninth best in the country. It was the first time in 15 games that LSU didn’t record a sack. They had three or more sacks in each of the last six games this season.
2: Nussmeier has thrown two or more interceptions in four of his last five games
11: Nussmeier’s 11 total interceptions are the most of any LSU quarterback in the last nine seasons. No other starting quarterback at LSU threw more than six in a season.
5: Ole Miss had 5 Sacks against Georgia, tied with the 2021 national title game against Alabama for the most in any game in the Kirby Smart era. Georgia had allowed more than two sacks in a single game just twice in the last three years.
22: Ole Miss has 22 sacks in the last three games. That would rank top five in the SEC for the season.
5: Ole Miss has racked five or more sacks in five of their last six games. The Rebels had five sacks or more in a single game once in the last six years in games against Power Four opponents (Georgia Tech 2022)
27: Drops from Georgia Wide Receivers this season. That’s the most of any team in the country.
21: Vanderbilt lost to South Carolina by 21 points on Saturday. Their other three losses this season came by a combined 10 total points.
16: South Carolina has beaten Vanderbilt 16 straight times.
3: Consecutive road wins for South Carolina this season. That’s the most since 2011, and prior to this year Shane Beamer had only two SEC road wins in three combined seasons.
Vanderbilt allowed season highs in first downs, total yards, and third down conversions against South Carolina. And they also had season lows in points scored,
58: Tennessee has held 10 straight opponents to under 20 points for the first time in 58 years dating back to the 1966 season.
1: Tennessee hasn’t allowed more than one score in the first half of any game during their ten game streak holding opponents below 20 points. They’ve allowed just 33 first half points overall in those ten games.
34: Oklahoma and Missouri combined for 34 total points in the fourth quarter of their game including three touchdowns in the final two minutes, two of which were fumble returns for touchdowns.
4: Oklahoma had four turnovers against Missouri. Prior to this season they had just one regular season game in the last nine years with four or more turnovers. They’ve done it twice in their last four games.
35: Florida trailed Texas by 35 points at halftime yesterday. That is the highest margin they’ve trailed at any halftime dating back 28 years to the 1995 Fiesta Bowl against Nebraska.
456: Florida has not been shut out in 456 consecutive games.
43: At halftime of the Missouri-Oklahoma game yesterday the leading passer had just 43 yards passing. It was Oklahoma’s punter, Luke Elzinga, who had more yards than Jackson Arnold and almost double the yards of Missouri’s Drew Pyne, who had just 23 passing yards in the first half.
20: Oklahoma-Mizzou was the 1st SEC game over the last 20 seasons with four touchdowns in final 3:30 of regulation.
43: Georgia hadn’t been held under 300 yards of offense in 43 consecutive games before the start of the 2024 season. Saturday was the third time in their last seven games they were held under 300 yards of offense.
