Statement from Kyren Lacy’s father after son’s death

Kenny Lacy, the father of former LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy, posted a message on Facebook Sunday after his son died Saturday night of a reported suicide.

“Our lives have changed forever and this will never be ok, but God needed my baby more than he was needed here,” the elder Lacy wrote.

Kyren Lacy was found dead in Houston Saturday night. He was set to face a grand jury Monday in connection with a fatal hit-and-run from December that resulted in Lacy’s arrest in January.

Kenny Lacy implored parents, “Don’t be cool with ‘I’m alright, or I’m good,” when you know deep down something isn’t right.”

Lacy began his football career at UL-Lafayette before spending the last three seasons with the Tigers. He was preparing for this month’s NFL Draft.
