Station Survey: Texas Bowl predictions

12/31/2024
Durham South Al

We asked the team at 104.5 ESPN Baton Rouge to give us their final scores for LSU and Baylor. This was the most split the responses have been all season. Here’s what they had to say.

Jacob Hester, Co-Host Off the Bench: As much as LSU doesn’t have on offense due to early draft guys and transfer defections, they do have the bulk of their starting defense available for this game. That’s the difference. LSU 31, Baylor 21

T-Bob Hebert, Co-Host, Off the Bench: The new-look offensive line and weapons are too much to overcome against a red hot Baylor team, Baylor 24, LSU 21

Taylor Sharp, Video Producer, Off the Bench: I think Baylor wins in a close one.  I really hope I’m wrong, but with the opt outs and the makeshift offensive line, I just trust Baylor a little more in this game. Baylor 34, LSU 31

Charles Hanagriff, Co-Host, Live at Lunch: The Tigers are without six starters, and Garrett Nussmeier will be operating behind a reworked offensive line. Baylor had only two contributors leave in the portal and are otherwise relatively healthy. Baylor 31, LSU 28

Jimmy Ott, Co-Host, Live at Lunch: The Texas Bowl “Just Means More” to the Baylor Bears. Baylor 30, LSU 20

Hunt Palmer, Host, The Hunt Palmer Show: LSU’s strength is its passing game. Four offensive line starters are gone or moved, and three of the top four pass catchers are gone. That’s quite a compromise. Baylor isn’t great, so I don’t expect the Bears to run away from LSU. I do expect them to win. Baylor 27, LSU 23

Jacob Beck, Audio Producer, The Hunt Palmer Show: LSU will unequivocally be bringing a far less talented roster to Houston than the one that played Oklahoma in Tiger Stadium a month ago. Does that mean Baylor has a better team than LSU? I don’t think so. The Bears finished with six straight wins but faced lowly opposition with four of those teams finishing below .500. Garrett Nussmeier will be playing, and I think he leads the team on a game-winning drive similar to the team’s win over Wisconsin in the ReliaQuest Bowl. LSU 27, Baylor 24

Matt Moscona, Host, After Further Review: LSU’s offense sputtered a little bit late. Now the losses due to opt out and the portal feels like too much to overcome. I’ll take Baylor by a score. Baylor 30, LSU 24

Paul O’Neill, Video Producer, After Further Review:  LSU wants to make a statement to end 2024. They overhauled their roster and will have high expectations next season. Nothing like kick-starting that with a win in the Texas Bowl. LSU 34, Baylor 24

Matthew Musso, Audio Producer, After Further Review: The LSU offensive line concerns me in this game. I think it is the swing point. You only have two starters, and Miles Frazier is playing out of position. I love that Coen Echols will get time and am fired up to see him get extended time. I am worried that there will be growing pains for the line in their first game together. I don’t think they will be a total disaster. They will have some very good moments, but also some bad. In a high scoring, close game the bad will cost you. Especially against a club in Baylor that has all its guys ready to go. Baylor 38, LSU 34
