Taysom Hill among players ruled out for Saints at Chiefs

By Ross Jackson
METAIRIE, La. — Another lengthy New Orleans Saints injury report results in five players being ruled out and two questionable heading into their Monday night tile with the Kansas City Chiefs.
New Orleans Saints
Out:
LB Willie Gay Jr. (Hand)
TE Taysom Hill (Rib)
G Cesar Ruiz (Knee)
C/G Shane Lemieux (Ankle)
DE Payton Turner (Knee)
Questionable:
LB Pete Werner (Hamstring)
OL Lucas Patrick (Groin)
No Injury Designation (Good To Go):
WR Cedrick Wilson Jr. (Ankle)
WR Chris Olave (Hamstring)
K Blake Grupe (Right Hip)
RB Kendre Miller (Hamstring) – currently still within IR practice window
RB Alvin Kamara (Hip/Ribs)
LB Demario Davis (Hamstring)
T Taliese Fuaga (Back/Knee)
TE Juwan Johnson (Forearm)
DT Bryan Bresee (Ankle)
With Patrick being listed as questionable, there’s a good chance that newly-acquired offensive lineman Connor McGovern may end up starting at center. He would be the third starting center in as many weeks for the team. Last week’s starter, Lemieux, has been ruled out.
The team will have to prove they can keep their offense productive without Hill, which has been a big ask so far this season. But otherwise, the team’s skill position players should be as healthy as they have been in the last few weeks with Kamara and Olave both listed as full participants without any game designation. That means they will be all good to go for Monday.
A story to watch will be at linebacker. Wener popping up with an in-practice injury makes him the sixth Saints player to do so within the last two weeks. The good news at the position is that starter Demario Davis was elevated to a full participant, so he should be back after his 13-year starting streak came to an end for the first time due to injury.
Kansas City Chiefs
Doubtful:
RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire (Illness)
Questionable:
WR Mecole Hardman
No Game Designation (Good To Go):
RB Kareem Hunt (Shoulder)
DE Mike Danna (Calf)
LB Nick Bolton (Hamstring)
DT Derrick Nnadi (Triceps)
Unless Edwards-Helaire is elevated to questionable before Monday’s game, he will not be able to take the field against the Saints. He may end up being the only player from the Chief’s injury list to not play. Although Hardman being questionable could lead to Kansas City being without a pair of skill position players with wideout Rashee Rice landing on Injured Reserve earlier this week.
