Texas strength and conditioning coach Torre Becton, a key figure in the Longhorns’ recent resurgence, will return to Austin for the 2025 season despite receiving interest from multiple NFL teams, On3’s Inside Texas reported.

Becton has been on Steve Sarkisian’s staff since its inception in 2021, playing a pivotal role in transforming Texas into a College Football Playoff contender. His return ensures continuity for a program that has seen significant growth under Sarkisian’s leadership.

Becton’s coaching résumé includes stints with the Houston Texans, Cal, USC, Iowa State, Baylor, Oklahoma State, and Sarkisian’s staff at Washington from 2011 to 2013.

Viewed as one of the key reasons for Longhorns’ success, Becton has helped Texas shed its recent history of inconsistency. Before Sarkisian’s arrival, Texas had endured more losing seasons than double-digit win campaigns since 2010. That narrative has changed, with the Longhorns making back-to-back trips to the College Football Playoff semifinals.

Becton’s impact has been especially evident in the trenches, where Texas finished the 2024 season with a Joe Moore Award finalist offensive line and a defense that ranked in the top three nationally in both scoring defense and yards allowed.
