Texas TE Gunnar Helm suffers ankle sprain at NFL Combine

By Chris Marler
Texas TE Gunnar Helm sprained his ankle during the NFL Scouting Combine. Helm sustained the injury during Friday’s tight end workouts at the NFL Combine.
Here is a crazy Combine story: #Texas TE Gunnar Helm twisted his ankle on his false start on the 40-yard dash, then finished all the drills anyway. Said nothing until it was over. Had an MRI on Saturday to reveal a sprain. And will run again at his Pro Day. The pics are… yikes. pic.twitter.com/fi9Uus2ASa

Helm came into the combine looking to turn heads with his on-field workout. He did that just not the way he wanted. Helm kept the injury to himself and still finished the workout, impressing teams around the league.
Helm’s production, leading SEC tight ends in receptions (60), receiving yards (786), and touchdowns (7), strengthens his draft stock. Helm is on track to recover in time for Texas’ Pro Day on March 27, giving NFL scouts another look at his skills.
