Mandatory minicamp begins on Tuesday for the New Orleans Saints, and fans are expected to be in attendance (weather permitting). This will be the fanbase’s first chance to lay eyes on the team’s new coaches, players and systems.
With excitement building for all of the change in New Orleans, here are a few players to keep an eye on if you’re in attendance.
We’ll leave the quarterbacks off of this list for now as they’re a built-in part of the entertainment on Airline Drive. All eyes will be on Spencer Rattler and Tyler Shough as their intriguing battle continues.
RB Alvin Kamara
Head coach Kellen Moore expects all healthy players to be present for this week’s minicamp stretch of practices. That means Kamara could be making his first appearance of the offseason.
He will be a focal point in Moore’s system, and this will provide the first glimpse of him working in the scheme. Kamara is always impressive to watch in these environments, even before pads go on and contact ramps up. His smooth movement ability and dynamic skill set are sure to catch the attention of all of those in attendance.
LB Danny Stutsman
This will be the fans’ first exposure to the electric linebacker. Throughout OTAs, he was undoubtedly one of the most fun players to watch. He has an energetic play style that makes him impossible to miss on the field and brings a contagious joy along with him.
With all healthy players expected to be in attendance, Stutsman will likely be behind fellow backers Demario Davis and Pete Werner. But when he gets his reps, he will catch the attention of all onlookers.
WR Chris Olave
Big plays downfield always create the ooh and ah moments during this stage of the offseason, and Olave has been the manufacturer of many such plays since returning to the field.
Fans will be able to breathe a sigh of relief seeing No. 12 back in the lineup and making plays at different areas of the field. He and wideout Rashid Shaheed have dialed up some big plays throughout OTAs and that should continue through minicamps, health provided.
