For 57 games, LSU played for postseason positioning. Now it’s time to play for a championship.

By virtue of their regular season efforts, LSU earned the No. 6 national seed in the NCAA Tournament beginning Friday. The Tigers will host the Baton Rouge Regional including No. 2 seed Dallas Baptist, No. 3 seed Rhode Island and No. 4 Little Rock seed who the Tigers will play Friday.

The SEC received eight of the 16 host sites and 13 bids in the field. Both led the country.

LSU takes on Little Rock Friday at 2:00. Dallas Baptist and Rhode Island will play at 6:30.

Dallas Baptist and LSU met in February at Globe Life Field in Arlington. The Tigers won that contest 7-3 behind strong pitching efforts from Conner Ware and Zac Cowan. The Patriots are 40-16 and went 21-6 to win Conference USA by two games.

Rhode Island posted a 38-20 record and went 22-8 in the Atlantic 10 to win the league. The Rams followed that up by sweeping through the conference tournament.

Little Rock is just 24-32 on the season but won the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.

The Baton Rouge Regional champion will take on the winner of the Clemson Regional hosted by No. 11 national seed Clemson. West Virginia, Kentucky and South Carolina Upstate round out that regional field.
