Tigers jump to No. 54 in latest NET

College basketball’s latest NET rankings are out, and LSU moved up seven spots after drilling Mississippi Valley State.
Yes, bating the team ranked dead last in the metric can weigh a team down, but the efficiency numbers in a 65-point win can swing things in a different direction. That’s what happened on Monday when the Tigers ended up No. 54.
The Tigers finished non-conference play 0-2 in Quadrant 1, 2-0 in Quadrant 2, 2-0 in Quadrant 3 and 7-0 in Quadrant 4. Those numbers are subject to change as the season continues, but considering that South Carolina ranks last among SEC team at No. 85, there are no truly bad losses remaining on LSU’s schedule. Now it becomes a race to see how many quality wins the Tigers can earn in the next nine weeks.
The SEC still have four teams in the Top 10- Auburn (1), Tennessee (2), Florida (4) and Alabama (8). LSU plays each of those teams just once in league play.
