The first week of February once meant everything in recruiting.

It’s now a footnote on the recruiting calendar. LSU isn’t expected to land a single high school signee in the late signing window after inking 23 prep prospects in December.

So, it’s on to the 2026 and 2027 classes for Brian Kelly and his staff.

Over the weekend the LSU football program welcomed nearly 50 prospects for a “junior day” that included some younger players, as well.

The state of Louisiana boasts three of the top 41 players in the country for 2026, and all three were in Baton Rouge for the event.

Lamar Brown, Blaine Bradford and Richard Anderson all made the trip to campus. For some, that’s shorter than others.

Brown, the nation’s top interior offensive lineman, preps at University Lab School on LSU’s campus. Bradford, the best safety prospect in the country, plays for Catholic High in Baton Rouge, just minutes from LSU. Anderson, 6-foot-3, 325 lbs, defensive line prospect and LSU commitment, is a Karr Cougar, one of the top high school programs in the state of Louisiana.

Those three prospects highlighted the attendees, but some of the top players already committed to LSU also made the festivities.

Aiden Hall, Anderson’s Karr teammate and four-star safety, came in. Kenny Darby, a four-star wide receiver from Airline High School in Bossier City, also drove down. Darby publicly closed his recruitment down last week.

LSU also welcomed the top 2027 high school tight end in the country to Baton Rouge. Ruston’s Ahmad Hudson, son of former LSU basketball standout Antonio Hudson was on campus.

LSU hired Alex Atkins as tight ends coach a week ago, so it was Hudson’s chance to interact with Atkins in Baton Rouge for the first time.

Bradford wasn’t the only Catholic High Bear who enjoyed the weekend. Jayden Miles, a 2027 running back, eafrned an offer from the Tiger staff.

Ellis McGaskin, the No. 1 linebacker in the country for 2027, was also in attendance. McGaskin is from Mobile and holds offers from all of the big time SEC programs.

The news wasn’t all positive, though. Not in attendance was committed defensive lineman JeReylan McCoy. The 6-foot-7, 245 lbs., Tupelo product visited Ole Miss and officially decommitted from LSU on Monday morning.

McCoy is the No. 11 rated defensive lineman in the class and had been an LSU commitment since January 2.
