Trey’Dez Green’s brief stint with the LSU basketball team is over for now.

In Monday’s press conference head coach Matt McMahon said Green would be stepping away from the program to focus on academics. That decision was made after a meeting with head football coach Brian Kelly. McMahon added Green would return “at a later date”.

Green played in six games for the Tigers. He averaged 1.8 points and 1.7 rebounds per game.

LSU’s frontcourt is battling through injuries.

Daimion Collins separated his shoulder on Saturday for the second time this season. He suffered the same injury at The Greenbriar in November.  McMahon expects that he’ll be ready to play on Tuesday night.

Corey Chest missed Saturday’s game with back spasms. McMahon called him probable against South Carolina.

Tip off between Tigers and Gamecocks is set for 8:00 in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
