Concerns over Will Campbell’s arm length seem to have been much ado about nothing.
The LSU tackle is currently the betting favorite to be the first offensive lineman selected in this month’s NFL Draft. DraftKings lists Campbell’s odds at -195 to be the first blocker taken, followed by Armand Membou of Missouri at +150. Texas offensive tackle Kelvin Banks, who at one time was considered the top lineman in the draft, is next at +1000.
Campbell measured 6-foot-6, 319 pounds at the Combine and ran 4.98 seconds in the 40-yard dash. Despite his size and athleticism, concerns arose about his 32 5/8-inch arms. NFL teams and scouts prefer players with 34-inch arms at tackle. For that reason, some teams and scouts have projected Campbell as a guard at the next level.
Whether he fits inside or outside, it seems clear the Campbell will be the first lineman off the board.
The Monroe, La. native was a Consensus All-American in 2024 and started all 38 games he played over three years at LSU.
The Tigers have not had an offensive lineman selected in the first round of the NFL Draft since Alan Faneca in 1998.
