Will Campbell finalist for Lombardi Award

Will Campbell could become the third LSU Tiger to win the Lombardi Award.

On Wednesday the Rotary Club of Houston announced the four 2024 finalists, and Campbell made the cut, joining South Carolina’s Kyle Kennard, Texas’s Kelvin Banks Jr. and Penn State’s Abdul Carter.

Each season the Lombardi Award is given to the college football player “who best embodies the values and spirit of NFL’s legendary coach Vince Lombardi“. The award was created in 1970 just after the death of the Hall of Fame coach. Glem Dorsey (2007) and Joe Burrow (2019) have previous won the award as LSU Tigers.

Campbell has garnered many accolades during his time at LSU. The senior left tackle has started all 36 games of his collegiate career. He was a freshman All-SEC selection in 2022 and a First Team All-SEC choice by the in 2023.

Campbell was chosen to wear No. 7 prior to the 2023 season, an honor given to the team’s top playmaker. He dons the tradition No. 66 in games but wears the No. 7 jersey in practice.

The award will be given out December 11.
