The hamstring issue has caused Williamson to miss three of the team’s last four games. He also missed the season opener due to illness. The Pelicans have been beseiged by injuries during their 3-7 start to the season.
The team’s key offseason acquisition Dejounte Murray suffered a hand fracture in the season opener and is expected to be out four-to-six weeks. CJ McCollum, Herb Jones and Jordan Hawkins are also out with injury. Trey Murphy has yet to make his season debut as he recovers from a hamstring injury.
Williamson, the former No. 1 overall selection, is in his sixth NBA season. His young career has been defined by injuries, including missing the entire 2021-2022 season due to a slow recovery from a foot fracture.
The Pelicans return to action Monday at home against the Brooklyn Nets.
