Michael Jordan to join NBA on NBC as contributor

Hall of Famer Michael Jordan will join NBC’s NBA coverage as a special contributor, the network announced Monday during its Upfront presentation.

Jordan, 62, appeared via video to share the news, saying, “I’m excited to be joining the NBA on NBC team and look forward to sharing my perspective on the game I love.”

NBC confirmed the announcement on social media but did not specify Jordan’s role. It will mark his first official media role covering the NBA since his retirement in 2003.

NBC’s new 11-year media rights deal with the NBA begins with the 2025-26 season, marking the network’s return to NBA coverage for the first time since 2002.

Jordan, a six-time NBA champion and five-time MVP, owned the Charlotte Hornets from 2010 to 2023 and co-founded the NASCAR team 23XI Racing in 2020.
