Three SEC teams have better odds than LSU to make the 12-team College Football Playoff field in 2025. Texas (-300) and Georgia (-250) were both CFP participants last season. Alabama is coming off a four-loss season in year one under Kalen DeBoer, but is -150 to make this year’s field.
The Tigers are +140, tied with Ole Miss for ninth-best odds in the country.
Last season, the oddsmakers at BetOnline.ag opened their playoff odds with 33 teams. This year, they’ve opened them with all 134 FBS teams.
Here are some notes from last year’s opening odds:
- The teams with the five best odds all made the playoff: Ohio State, Georgia, Oregon, Texas and Clemson.
- The teams with the sixth to 12th best odds did not make the playoff: FSU, K-State, Michigan, Utah, Miami, Ole Miss and Arizona.
- Notre Dame was 5/2 (+250) to make the playoff, which equated to 28.57%.
- These playoff teams did not have opening odds: ASU, Boise State, Indiana and SMU.
