College football is in a dead period currently, but that didn’t prevent LSU from nabbing one of Louisiana’s best prospects on Saturday.
Dez Ellis, who plays quarterback at Franklin Parish, pledged to the Tigers as a cornerback. Many schools were recruiting Ellis as a quarterback, but Corey Raymond’s pitch at LSU won out.
According to 247sports composite rankings, Ellis is the No. 12 player in Louisiana. He stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 175 lbs.
He chose LSU over offers from West Virginia, Tulane, Houston and others.
Ellis makes 11 commitments for LSU in the class of 2026. Seven hail from Louisiana.
