The MLB Draft begins Sunday, and several SEC players have huge decisions to make. This year’s draft isn’t as littered with SEC prospects as year’s past, but there’s still plenty of star power near the top. Here’s a look at the latest mock draft from Jim Callis at MLB.com and every SEC player that landed in the first round.
1 – Nationals: Anderson, LHP, LSU
2 – Angels: Liam Doyle, LHP, Tennessee
5 – Cardinals: Ike Irish, OF/C, Auburn
13 – Giants: Kyson Witherspoon, RHP, Oklahoma
17 – Brewers: Weihiwa Aloy, SS, Arkansas
20 – Brewers: Jace LaViolette, OF, Texas A&M
21 – Astros: Gavin Kilen, 2B, Tennessee
22 – Braves: Gage Wood, RHP, Arkansas
Supplemental 1st Round

Twelve of the 43 players projected to be taken in the first round and supplemental first round are from the SEC. That’s up from nine that went in the 2024 draft. That’s still an overwhelming amount more players from the SEC than any other conference. However, this year’s high school crop of talent has dominated the early round projections. Twelve of the first 27 players projected to be taken are from the high school ranks.
