Whether it comes before or days after the New Orleans Saints’ final preseason game against the Denver Broncos, a decision is likely to be made around the Saints’ ongoing quarterback battle.
Head coach Kellen Moore has said that he and the staff are close to making their decision on two separate occasions now.
He first said it in early August in an interview with WDSU’s Fletcher Mackel and then again while in California for mid-month practices in an Up & Adams interview with Kay Adams.
“We’re close.. we’re close.”

Now, as teams around the league begin to make their announcements, the Saints could do the same soon.
As the team reports for practice on Tuesday, a decision could be made which would be relayed to the media following the day’s work. If not, then it seems likely that New Orleans will look to its final preseason matchup against Denver as its final proving ground. That would set up quite the showdown for the final preseason game.
In either case, the Tramm’s decision will be in its way soon. This will allow the Saints to have a couple of weeks to finesse the offense for its chosen starter before Week One against the Arizona Cardinals.
