A fresh voice will cover Tiger Stadium this fall.
Dixon McMakin, a 2010 LSU graduate and State Representative, will succeed Dan Borne as the public address announcer at Tiger Stadium. Tiger Rag reported the news first.
McMakin is a Baton Rouge native and Catholic High School graduate. He’s been the voice of the Bears football team since 2017 and has worked public address in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center for basketball and volleyball.
Borne announced his retirement this summer after 38 years behind the microphone. While Borne was away in 2024 recovering from health complications, Bill Franques filled the role. Franques handles public address at Alex Box Stadium in addition to his role as Sports Information Director.
LSU begins its 2025 home schedule Saturday September 6 as Louisiana Tech visits Baton Rouge.
