NEW ORLEANS, La. – The New Orleans Saints have waived 2023 second-round pick and defensive end Isaiah Foskey
Per NewOrleans.Football’s Nick Underhill, the move came Tuesday morning as the team began its roster cutting for the day in pursuit of building out its initial 53-man roster.

Foskey was expected to take a step forward during the 2025 preseason with the changing defensive scheme around him looking better equipped to elevate the Notre Dame all-time sack-leader’s skill set as a pass rusher.
Over his two years appearing in 27 regular season games, he registered no sacks and was mostly relegated to a special teams role. Despite appearing in the third-most snaps during the 2025 preseason, Foskey registered a single pressure on 49 pass rushing snaps (T-No. 3 on the team). He also added four total tackles but was notched with a 28.6% missed tackle rate over the trio of contests.
The turnaround for Foskey hasn’t gone as expected. Perhaps he ends up benefiting from a change or scenery or could even land back on the Saints’ practice squad to continue developing in the background.
The No. 40 overall selection from 2023 will now go through waivers as his future takes shape possibly away from New Orleans.
