LSU makes its Tiger Stadium debut Saturday night as a top five team.
Fresh off a huge win at Clemson, the Tigers welcome Louisiana Tech to Baton Rouge for an in-state showdown. The Bulldogs started 1-0 last week with a 24-0 win over Southeastern Louisiana.
Each week we ask the crew at 104.5 ESPN Baton Rouge for their picks. This week we asked for something to watch in addition to the score pick.
Jacob Hester, Co-host, Off the Bench: Will the defense use the same blitz rate and aggression that it used at Clemson? 45-10 LSU.
Matt Flynn, Co-host, Off the Bench: 58-2 LSU
Alondra Villareal, Audio Producer, Off the Bench: I’m looking for LSU to KEEP THAT SAME ENERGY!!! I loved the energy coming from the team vs. Clemson, but can you keep at least some of that juice in a less competitive game? Let’s see that 1-0 mindset carry on vs. Louisiana Tech. Don’t get humbled by Louisiana Tech!!
Charles Hanagriff: Co-host, Live at Lunch: If Louisiana Tech doesn’t spend the night in a two high look the way Clemson did, we might see LSU push the ball down the field a little. 44-7 LSU.
Hunt Palmer, Host, The Hunt Palmer Show: Absolutely no hangover from LSU in this game. The Tiger come out fast and physical and trounce Tech. I’d like to see the passing game stretch the field this week after an understandably quick passing attack last week against a great defensive front. 48-3 LSU
Jacob Beck, Audio Producer, The Hunt Palmer Show: Last year LSU was sleep walking through non-conference games (minus USC, of course). The Nicholls game was the most egregious. The Colonels ran for 150 yards and scored 21 points. Coincidentally, Nicholls played Louisiana Tech last year and kept it close, losing 25-17. The Bulldogs weren’t good last year and don’t look to be much better this year. LSU will come into Tiger Stadium with all the juice and looking to keep the energy up before Florida comes to town next week. Look for the Tigers to take some deep shots to Chris Hilton and Barion Brown and show some variety in the passing game. 55-10 LSU.
Matt Moscona, Host, After Further Review: Three players that didn’t have a big role against Clemson should have an expanded role against Louisiana Tech. Chris Hilton should see increased targets. Ashton Stamps should see the field. Harlem Berry should have an opportunity show off his explosive running style. 45-7 LSU.
Matthew Musso, Audio Producer, After Further Review: The Tigers are a big favorite and will win this game, but it is a sandwich spot coming off a huge win on the road and staring at top 15 matchup with Florida next week. I want to see LSU play with great intensity from the opening kick to the final whistle. Bring that same energy from a week ago and put this thing away early. You do that, and this could be an opportunity to get eyes on some younger players. Brian Kelly even mentioned getting all three Weeks brothers on the field at the same time. Lastly, STAY HEALTHY. 45-3 LSU
Paul O’Neill, Video Producer, After Further Review: One thing I’m keeping my eye on is the RB rotation behind Caden Durham. Kaleb Jackson, Ju’Juan Johnson and Harlem Berry should see the field plenty late in this game. Who will establish themselves as the true No. 2 RB behind Durham? 44-20 LSU
