METAIRIE, La. – The practice week continues on for the New Orleans Saints, who saw a few new absences on Thursday.
These are the players who were not seen during the open portion of practice:
WR Trey Palmer (ankle)
CB Isaac Yiadom (hamstring)
RG Cesar Ruiz (ankle) – Ruled Out
OL Dillon Radunz (toe)
DE Chase Young (calf) – Ruled Out
Saints’ head coach Kellen Moore ruled out Ruiz and Young following Wednesday’s practice, so both players were already expected to be missing Thursday.
Palmer has been in and out of practice managing a hamstring injury for the past few weeks. Now, he’s battling an ankle injury.
Not related, but relevant, the Saints have a new wide receiver presumably on the practice squad: Dante Pettis. He was sporting former receiver Cedrick Wilson Jr.’s No. 11 jersey. Wilson was signed off the practice squad by the Miami Dolphins.
The new absence of Godchaux could be concerning against New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo, a physical and violent rusher. Last week, second-year defensive tackle Khristian Boyd saw a major uptick in action after getting healthy again. This week could bring his first career start.
If Yiadom were to miss Sunday’s game, it would line rookie cornerback Quincy Riley up with his first career start. Yiadom, like Palmer, would be a mid-week downgrade after being limited last week.
