LSU, Woodside Energy agree to landmark jersey patch sponsorship

LSU has agreed to a deal with Woodside Energy as an exclusive jersey patch sponsor for all its athletics teams, LouisianaSports.net has learned.

The Division I Administrative Committee has introduced the legislation that would allow for sponsored jersey patches on game uniforms. A final vote is expected to be held in January.

There is no rule currently prohibiting sponsored logo patches on practice or mascot uniforms. LSU’s costumed Mike the Tiger is already displaying the Woodside Energy patch. LSU football practice jerseys also have added the patches this season.

Terms of the deal with Woodside Energy have not been disclosed.

Woodside Energy is an Australian company that recently announced a $17.5 billion investment for an LNG facility in southwest Louisiana.

LSU also added a Venture Global logo on the field at Tiger Stadium this season.

With athletic departments now allowed to share up to $20.5 million in revenue with student athletes, administrators are seeking new revenue opportunities.
