ESPN’s College Gameday was live from Eugene, Oregon on Saturday for a top ten matchup between Indiana and Oregon. Here’s our recap from pregame for what may be the biggest week of the college football season so far.

Injury Updates for several key players

With the introduction of the availability report each week for SEC games, Pete Thamel now has a weekly segment on Gameday with the latest updates. This week there were two headliners for SEC games with LSU WR Aaron Anderson and Oklahoma QB John Mateer.

Anderson was listed as doubtful in the latest injury report and is likely to miss Saturday’s game against South Carolina. Sophomore WR Kyle Parker is expected to play in his place. Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer was upgraded to probable for Saturday’s game against Texas all indications are that he will be a go against the Longhorns.

Everyone got naked…kinda

Pat McAfee continues to bring a ridiculous level of energy to the show no matter what time zone the show is in. This week it took all of four minutes for McAfee to get on top of a chair and start singing “Shout” at the top of his lungs in unison with the audience.

Later Oregon head coach Dan Lanning joined the broadcast and took his shirt off along with McAfee to pump the crowd. Even the duck got in on the action of taking it off.

Herbie’s Road Trip

Kirk Herbstreit had to leave the broadcast early because he is on the call for Oklahoma-Texas in Dallas Saturday afternoon. What ESPN could’ve done is just continued to do the show with the other four hosts. But, where’s the fun, or logic, in that.

ESPN cameras followed Herbstreit from the moment he walked off the Gameday set where he hopped on the back of a motorcycle being driven by the Oregon Duck mascot. They then traveled next to him as he froze in the back of a top down Jeep driving to the airport, and somehow continued on despite the most unstable wifi signal imaginable from 30,000 feet up.

This is the second year in a row they’ve done this. It was just as awful the second time around.
