Trey’Dez Green‘s healthy return sparked LSU’s passing game against South Carolina.
Aaron Anderson‘s could do the same this weekend at Vanderbilt. After taking the bye week off and warming up in full pads against South Carolina but not playing, Anderson is working out with the team in preparation to return to the field in Nashville.
“He felt pretty good,” said LSU head coach Brian Kelly. “He went the entire day. His player load was pretty good. We kind of monitor those things for our wide receivers.”
Multiple ailments have plagued Anderson over the first month of the season. Ultimately, he had to shut things down at halftime of the Ole Miss game on September 27. His knee has been the biggest issue.
“The knee that he’s had most of his problems with is one that gets inflamed, and he’s not 100 percent,” Kelly said. “He’s a guy that needs to play fast and free, and he just wasn’t in that mindset this weekend, but he is in practice this week, so we expect him to do a nice job for us.”
No Tiger has caught more passes from quarterback Garrett Nussmeier than Anderson. While Green’s emergence, Kyle Parker‘s contribution and the rest of the deep wide receiver group are enough to help the passing game function, it’s not going to run at its maximum efficiency without Anderson.
LSU will release its first availability report of the week on Wednesday in compliance with SEC regulations.
