NEW ORLEANS, La. – The New Orleans Saints have announced their inactive players for their Week 8 matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With a majority healthy roster, the team’s selections haven’t varied much over the last few weeks. But with a major injury on the offensive line, one familiar face is back on the active game day roster.
Saints Inactives:
- S Ugo Amadi
- CB Rejzohn Wright
- DT Jonah Williams
- TE Zaire Mitchell-Paden (No. 84)
- OL Xavier Truss
- DT Khristian Boyd
One of the bigger changes from last week’s list is that the team’s newly acquired tight end is taking the place of offensive lineman Torricelli Simpkins III.
Simpkins has the versatility to play both guard and center. That makes him a very valuable player to have active on game day. With starting center Erik McCoy sidelined for the year and veteran Luke Fortner starting in his place, having another center option is vital as to not interest the consistency on the left or right sides. The Saints also have offensive lineman Dillon Radunz active, per usual.
Additionally, for the first time in multiple weeks, Yiadom is active and Boyd is back to be inactive as the team continues to rotate between him and veteran Jonathan Bullard.
One major storyline to watch going into this game will be the running back position. The Saints will have just two active backs this week in star Alvin Kamara and rookie Devin Neal. New Orleans may need to turn to quarterback Taysom Hill and more designed rushing looks for Spencer Rattler to help supplement the running game without overworking any of their backs.
New Orleans has also elevated defensive end Eku Leota to serve as an additional defensive rotation piece and contribute to special teams. He appeared for three kick return unit snaps and received six punt coverage snaps last week.
