METAIRIE, La. – The New Orleans Saints are kicking off their practice week without one of their top playmakers on offense.
During the open portion of Wednesday’s Saints practice, running back Alvin Kamara was not present. The absence was signaled as a possibility by the Saints’ Monday transactions, making the situation expected.
If Kamara is unavailable Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, rookie running back Devin Neal and recently-signed back Audric Estime would be charged with leading the ground game. The Saints also added back Evan Hull to the active roster from the practice squad.
All of the team’s running back options beyond Kamara were present and participating throughout practice, including Ian Wheeler, who was added to the practice squad on Monday.
The rest of the healthy roster was present, but practice squad wide receiver and return specialist Dante Pettis worked off to the side with training staff.
There will be additional information made available in the afternoon’s injury report.
