METAIRIE, La. – With just five games left in the regular season, the New Orleans Saints haven’t experienced a ton of unique injuries relative to the amount seen around the league. That is, until this week when a star-studded list of four players were not seen at Wednesday’s practice ahead of the Week 14 matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The following players were not seen during the open portion of Saints’ practice on Wednesday:
- WR Chris Olave
- S Justin Reid (knee)
- RB Alvin Kamara (knee/ankle)
- T Taliese Fuaga
Kamara missed last week’s game with a knee injury and has also been managing an ankle injury in the process. Behind him, backs Devin Neal, Evan Hull and Audric Estime have been taking the reps in practice with Neal and Hull seeing the bulk of work in last week’s game against the Miami Dolphins. Kamara did not participate in practice last week.
Reid was ruled out of action with a knee injury during the Week 13 game, and has the potential to miss sometime in the process. His absence from Wednesday’s practice confirmed that.
Olave was questionable going into last week’s contest, but did play 87.5% of snaps. After a breakout game from wide receiver Devaughn Vele, he may see an even more increased workload this week if Olave is sidelined or limited at all.
Fuaga has been managing injuries on and off throughout the season. He had just returned to the lineup against the Dolphins. His absence, along with Olave’s, could be rest days related to their injuries. But it’s too soon to speculate on that. The afternoon’s injury report will shed more light on the status of each player.
