Early signing day wrapped up on Wednesday, and for the first time in 18 years an SEC team didn’t finish with the No. 1 class. It was Southern Cal and their 35 commits that took the top spot. In fact, an SEC team didn’t even finish in the top three for the first time in roughly two decades.
Still, five teams finished in the top ten, and nine finished in the top 20.

The story really has been the redistribution of wealth of elite talent around the country and even the SEC. This year’s signing day was just the second time in the last five recruiting cycles that the SEC didn’t have more than 50% of the total five-star players. It’s also the fourth consecutive year that at least nine teams in the conference landed at least one five-star. In the six years before that (2017-2022), more than six teams in the SEC signed a five-star just once.
Vanderbilt even joined in on the fun, not only signing their first ever five-star in program history, but the 247Sports Composite No. 1 overall player, QB Jared Curtis. Here’s a look at signing day by the numbers with rankings and totals coming from 247Sports Composite Rankings.
