Metairie, La. – The New Orleans Saints were back on the practice field Wednesday getting ready for their upcoming matchup against the Carolina Panthers. In doing so, a key piece to their offense also returned and another recent injury loss on defense was seen, as well.
Right tackle Taliese Fuaga was participating throughout practice. He missed last week’s game with an ankle injury, a different one than that which cost him a pair of games after the Los Angeles Rams game in Week 9. This would be a big return for New Orleans, who saw Fuaga’s backup, Asim Richards, leave their Week 14 win with an injury himself.
Safety Justin Reid was also back at practice on Wednesday, but was not participating. Instead, he worked with the coaching staff to help out the rest of the safety room as they practiced. He had no helmet throughout the portion of the day that was open to the media.
Two players were not seen during the open portion:
- RB Alvin Kamara (knee/ankle)
- OL Asim Richards (ankle)
With Kamara still not present for practice, rookie Devin Neal and young backs Audric Estime and Evan Hull continued to get the work at running back. The trio performed well against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ No. 6 ranked rushing defense. This week, the Saints will face the Panthers’ rushing defense, which is currently ranked No. 17 in yards allowed.
