The New Orleans Saints returned to the practice field with very little movement in their attendance from Wednesday to Thursday, as expected.
Here are the players that were not seen by reporters during the open portion of practice:
- WR Devaughn Vele (shoulder)
- WR Mason Tipton
- RB Devin Neal (hamstring)
- RB Alvin Kamara (knee/ankle)
- RG Cesar Ruiz (ankle)
- OL Asim Richards (ankle)
- DT Davon Godchaux
With Vele and Neal already ruled out for the week by head coach Kellen Moore, the Saints had a new big-bodied wide receiver and running back present.
Running back Nyheim Hines (No. 19) was present for the day after being added to the practice squad on Wednesday. The expectation is that kicker Cade York is the corresponding move being that kicker Charlie Smyth is set to be added to the active roster this week.
Meanwhile, another big-bodied pass-catcher, believed to be former Philadelphia Eagles wideout Elijah Cooks, was also present. He wore No. 86.
Tipton is a curious addition to the absence list, but it could be that he is part of the sure-to-be plentiful set of roster moves that will come with making sure the team can field a healthy offense on Sunday. Seeing him return either to the active roster or practice squad, along with additional roster moves, would not be a surprise.
Expect a healthy amount of roster moves and reorganization ahead of Sunday’s matchup as the Saints navigate a costly bunch of recent injuries.
