The 5-10 New Orleans Saints may have seen their draft position fall to No. 8 overall in the 2026 NFL Draft thanks to their 29-6 victory over the 3-12 New York Jets. But it’s clear that they have no regrets with playing to win down the stretch.
As the Saints continue to build their winning culture, their players continue to put themselves in rarified air with their performances. Here are some of the numbers that help tell the story of the Saints’ third-consecutive victory in the final stretch of the season.
1 – Rookie quarterback Tyler Shough now holds several franchise rookie passing records. He ranks No. 1 in completions (176), passing yards (1,792), passing touchdowns (7), passer rating (86.5) and current completion percentage (66.4%) among the 11 qualifying rookie signal callers in franchise history.
5 – Wide receiver Chris Olave joins pass-catchers Michael Thomas, Jimmy Graham, Marques Colston and Joe Horn as just the fifth Saints player in the team’s history with at least 90 catches and 1,000 in a single season.
5 – Kicker Charlie Smyth also tied a franchise record by making five field goals in the game. It was only the tenth time a Saints’ kicker has made as many.
2 – Shough now has the second-best odds to win Offensive Rookie Of The Year (+390) on FanDuel Sportsbook.
7 – Alontae Taylor wrangled his seventh career sack, a franchise record for Saints cornerbacks.
17 – Per Next Gen Stats, Shough was pressured on a career low 17% of his dropbacks. A large reason why was his quick passing game, completing 19 of 23 passing attempts delivered in under 2.5 seconds. He gained 195 of his passing yards and threw a touchdown on those quick passing attempts.
72.7 – The Saints’ defense finished the game against the Jets with eight sacks while only generating pressure on 25% of the Jets’ dropbacks. The defense tallied a remarkable 72.7% pressure-to-sack conversion rate, the highest in a game since 2023 per Next Gen Stats.
130 – Defensive end Cam Jordan now has 130 career sacks, placing him in sole possession of the No. 17 all-time spot in sacks.
300 – Shough’s 308 passing yards made him the Saints’ first 300-yard passer since 2023.
1,000 – Saints quarterback Taysom Hill became the first player in the Super Bowl era to gain 1,000 yards rushing, passing and receiving in a career.
2020 – New Orleans won its third game in a row on Sunday, capturing their first three-game win streak since 2022. In the Saints’ next game against the Tennessee Titans, they could win four-straight for the first time since 2020 when the team won nine consecutive games.
