As the beginning of NFL free agency gets closer, we’ll be providing breakdowns of some of the available players that the New Orleans Saints could look to pursue. While a big name on the interior of the offensive line should be their first priority, adding more talent to the edge rusher room should be near the top of the list as well.
One underrated option that is expected to be available this offseason is former Baltimore Ravens and Los Angeles Chargers outside linebacker Odafe Oweh.
Oweh’s Measureables
Height: 6-foot-5
Weight: 257 pounds
Arm length: 34.5 inches
40-yard-dash: 4.37 seconds
Vertical: 39.5 inches
Broad jump:11-foot-2
RAS: 9.92
Oweh’s 2025 Statistics
Tackles: 28
Sacks: 7.5
Tackles for a loss: 8
Oweh is an athletic marvel at the position and could be a major addition to the Saints’ defense. His 51 pressures led the Chargers defense in 2025. The Saints’ leader in that stat last year was defensive end Chase Young with 49, despite Young appearing in just 12 games.
Getting help for Young will be a key factor in the Saints’ 2026 offseason. With uncertainty around the future of fellow edge rusher Cameron Jordan and a need for greater consistency at the position overall, an investment in a former first-round selection like Oweh should be under consideration regardless of the Jordan decision.
Oweh’s athleticism would work well in defensive coordinator Brandon Staley’s scheme as an outside the tackle pass rusher, his elite speed can help him both when getting after the quarterback and when asked to drop into coverage and his 16.5% pass rush win rate was one of the best at his position, per Pro Football Focus.
New Orleans shouldn’t wait around until the draft to look for another edge rusher. If they can get interest from a player like Oweh, he could have an immediate impact as a signing in free agency.
